Dirty disco twelve-inch hands
So yesterday there was an ad in the paper saying that some resale shop downtown just opened this 'vinyl room' that has like, 10,000 vinyl records. So I went today and it was unbeleivable. I mean, you've gotta understand, like, this is my thing.
So I spent two hours today scrummaging through half of their collection, maybe 5,000 records, most of which were old 45's. At five when the shop closed, I had already found these:
-Pink Floyd - "Wish You Were Here" LP
-"Saturday Night Fever OST" LP
-Michael Jackson - "Thriller" LP
-David Bowie - "We are the Dead" 45
-David Bowie - "Sound and Vision" 45
-Yes - "Owner of a Lonely Heart" 45
but these ones are what made me want to piss myself:
-Elvis Costello - "Watching the Detectives" 45 (b/w "Alison")
-Soft Cell - "Tainted Love" 45 (amazing....)
-Bob Dylan - "Tangled up in Blue" 45
and this one was the best find of the day, I seriously was caught so out of my element when I saw this:
-Beastie Boys - "It's the New Style" 45 (b/w "Paul Revere")
Like, honestly, you don't just waltz around Roseburg and accidentally stumble upon a copy of the Beastie Boys' first vinyl single.
The Soft Cell 45 and the Beastie Boys 45 are my favorites, but the Bowie singles are also really great. Tommorow I am going back to sift through another five grand records, so my hopes are high to find some more great stuff, hopefully some more Beasties or Bob Dylan. If I stumble upon a copy of Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love" 45 then I will literally start crying.... but it isnt likely.
